Unfortunately my belief in Denis to adapt this absolutely wild story has suffered from reading it. There's something very interesting here at its core, but there's A LOT of extra stuff thrown in that just muddies the water.

Sometimes, I would forget it was written by a man in the 60's, but then one paragraph about a woman would come up and suddenly I remembered

ow that hurt actually

Loved the first Dune, but this was just boring and I didn't feel attached in any way to the characters.

Dune crawled so Messiah could walk. This entry is worth the heavy, exposition-laden first entry. A meditation on politics, Dune Messiah is an engaging political thriller with a whiff of mystery. A nearly perfect work.
