joo tykkäsin enemmän jostain syystä kun aikasemmasta :D teemat tuli selkeesti esiin, vaikkakin tapahtua alko vasta loppuvaiheessa…

The second installment of the Dune series surprised me by being much shorter than the first book.
Was the publishing rushed back then? Because it felt like I was reading a play rather than an epic book. Most chapters consist of 2 or more characters talking riddles at each other. Most often than not they even tell each other that they don't understand what the other is even talking about. I might be too autistic for such dialogue because I struggled to understand lots of it myself.
The plot and the characters are great. But the way it's written is just a bit underwhelming, yet entertaining and very puzzling.

I gotta say, I fucking love Dune! I'm glad I didn't listen to the people saying to skip the sequels because I felt like Dune Messiah made the story of Dune far richer. It was a book of paradoxes and unintended consequences. I loved it - maybe even a bit more than Dune. Now on to Children of Dune!

Princess Irulan despite being named more than she even featured is my favourite dune character. Shes so interesting and complex and I think she deserved a pov in this book (whose plot is still unknown to me because what even happened apart from that one bit at the end)
Still an amazing book! I’m shocked that I enjoyed this so much giving so little happened.

Credit to Herbert for immediately disabusing anyone of the notion that being Emperor would be cool and fun. Seems like it actually sucks and everyone’s constantly trying to kill you for becoming the galactic messiah!
