Dune Messiah

I find myself feeling so indifferent about this book, not particularly caring one way or another. I think I just really don't vibe with Frank Herbert's writing style. Paul could've been an interesting character to follow and do a more in-depth character study of, and I am really disappointed with how little of that I got here.

While reading this, I kept wondering: why was this book written? I suppose I somewhat got the points the author wanted to make, yet they really missed the mark for me on its execution.

The book starts with the promise of a civil war and a whole political conflict and rebellion. What happened to that??

I LOVE the Dune universe, but seriously, Herbert gave us crumbs in the books! I was so disappointed when I finished the book, I only gave it three stars because the great ideas are there, but they’re never fully evolved

While still falling victim to the “sophomore slump” or “book-two syndrome,” Dune Messiah is still maintains the incredible standard set by its predecessor. While definitely not considered as iconic as book 1, Dune Messiah is honestly a must-read for anyone who loves Dune.

The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars was because it really didn’t have any action sequences, but that doesn’t mean nothing monumental happened.

Cannot wait to read Children of Dune.

Finally it is done. I finished it. After 2 1/2 years of chipping away at a short book.

My conclusion: Paul bad. A worthwhile coda to the original book but never quite what I wanted.
