Everything was perfect during Calvin & Elizabeth's love story, but right after that I was kind of let down :// The book eventually picked back up though :)

This whole book was a treat! It's a story about women, for women, by a woman. Even though the events of this book take place in 50s/60s America, you can still relate to all of the women's experiences (which says a lot). The imagery the author used is amazing; I could see it all in my head; the dresses, the food, the homes and the offices, the characters and the cars.
Anyway, this was a phenomenal debut for Garmus (who's madly talented). I hope to see her taking on more stories in the future.

This was a really quick, enjoyable read! The author's voice is delightfully snappy and the main character is witty AF, but without meaning to be, which is a fantastic combination.

If you want some deep treatise on feminism, this isn't quite it. Things will be wrapped up in a nice bow before you put the book down. So if you want something that has lots of payoff for the sad parts, that makes you think but doesn't leave you frustrated, or that makes you feel just a little bit better by the end - this book is absolutely for you.

The main characters are smart, but not annoyingly so. Side characters get the most development, which is not my preference but worked well enough here. All in all, it's a very cozy book and I thoroughly enjoyed my read!

We can learn more, we can go further, but to accomplish this, we must throw open the doors. Too many brilliant minds are kept from scientific research thanks to ignorant biases like gender and race. It infuriates me and it should infuriate you. Science has big problems to solve: famine, disease, extinction. And those who purposefully close the door to others using self-serving, outdated cultural notions are not only dishonest, they're knowingly lazy.

There was so much that I loved about this book - especially being a woman in STEM myself. I loved that a common theme in this book was women succeeding because they had support of other women (and vice versa - when women competed with one another in ugly ways, they both suffered). I loved that Elizabeth felt relatable. I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED Six-Thirty. My only qualm is that I often forgot (or perhaps couldn’t believe) that this book took place in the 1960s. Much of it felt like it was taking place much later, perhaps even present day. Regardless, loved it.
