The book itself was a very good read, but the criticism of religion and even introducing a reverend who did not believe in God felt unnecessary in the story.

This book was a great example of a women's strength and perseverance during a time when we didn't have much of a voice. Very well written and I learned a lot about Chemistry too!

wish i could give this a 4.9 bc that’s how i feel overall, but this story moved me to tears multiple times and i loved and rooted for the characters deeply. love the themes of science vs. religion throughout, and the many threads that all come together at the end.
