If you’re looking for a fast paced book with lots of action, this is it.

It’s Christmas time. Darby Thorne is a college student at CU-Bolder trying to drive home to Provo Utah before her mom passes away from pancreatic cancer. On the way there, Darby has to beat a snowstorm in the Rockies if she has a fighting chance of making it to her mother on time.

Long story short, she gets caught in the storm and has to pull over at a rest stop. She’s met there by 4 other people; Sandi and Ed who are cousins and Lars and Ashley who are brothers.

After getting acquainted with everyone at the rest stop, Darby is trying to find cell service and walks outside to try and find some. She happens to glance in the back of an Astro van that’s parked and sees a little girl in a kennel.

Which one of the people that Darby is stuck with at this rest stop is responsible?

Could have easily finished this one in one sitting.

I’ve never read a book that was truly unputdownable, but this was exactly that. Such a great read! The characters in this book were so well done and the way he writes is griping. Highly recommend!

I had been hearing so many people talking about this book so I knew I had to read it. It did not disappoint. I started it on a Friday night, woke up on Saturday and finished it. I could not stop reading it, and there were no points where it lulled at all. The biggest question to be answered is who is driving the car with the little girl in the back? But the quest to escape while being snowed in is also so riveting. Darby is my new hero. Do yourself a favor and experience this book. You won’t regret it.

Darby is trapped at a truck stop during a blizzard. In one of the cars, Darby saw a little girl in a cage. Obviously, Darby tries to solve it instead of letting the cops get involved.

I though the pacing was great and I was entertained the whole time. The plot was a little ridiculous but still an interesting story and a great setting.

4/5 stars.
I recommend it fans of thrillers that are not looking for a wife/girlfriend alcoholic character.

Actually pretty good! I don't read thrillers much so I don't have much to benchmark this against, but I had a good time.

I liked the existence of the gray character. I was sad the simple character wasn't explored more. A clever protagonist could have tried to influence the character. However, props to the author for not making they protagonist utterly perfect in that regard.

I think the mustache twirling was way overdone.

I don't think the author has ever seen snow. These characters run around in a blizzard with light sneakers, no gloves, sometimes no coats, walking through what is described as waist deep snow, and never noticing the cold, or the wind, never having noticeably distressing wet clothes after they come back inside. Basically, the characters act like it's around fifty degrees out and so is the snow. There was no feeling of winter to the story. Yes, the blizzard and road conditions are described, but the characters don't actually, truly, feel or experience them. It could just as easily be some other isolating natural disaster for all the attention the characters actually pay to the experience of being cold and being in snow. Hell, a portion of the book involving gasoline was more atmospheric.

BUT. Liked it otherwise.
