It was a plot twist after plot twist. At least that was what it felt like, when I was reading this book. Now I can say that it was a very interesting book and I plan to reread it in the future.
After having experienced a myriad of other fantasy authors, and reading a good amount of his novels, I can honestly say that this one toppled them all. The novels ability to briskly move along despite the copious amount of detail is the trademark of Neil Gaiman. In short the novel was wonderful.

A modern take on an African folktale that has entertaining moments but I probably won't be re-visiting.
I was disappointed that Neil Gaiman did not narrate this audiobook. But the actual narrator was wonderful. The book went quickly. I really enjoyed it.

I liked more than American Gods, and I liked it a lot more this time around than on the first read. It's a smaller fraction of a smaller book before it really gets going, and it's a pretty simple tale after the (attempted, at least) heaviness of American Gods. If you just want a straight character-driven adventure, this'll do.
I loved this book! The story was fascinating and enthralling. I couldn't put it down and wanted more when I was finished, in a good way.
“It's easier to lie to yourself when you say things out loud.”
I was not as happy with this book as I have been with Neil Gaiman's other books. He has written some solid books throughout his career, and I think this one was a little lackluster in comparison. That being said, it is still a fine book overall. Neil Gaiman has the ability to take myths and folktales and make fully comprehensive characters and stories from them. It is ridiculous how talented Neil Gaiman is at what he wants to accomplish. Following the protagonist Fat Charlie we see how pointless everything can be when you are stacked up against the odds. We see how tough it can be when the simple life you wanted is not obtainable. It was a solid book that many people would like. Gaiman was able to create another smooth story with strong character development, and a few twists and turns. Gaiman's prose is very unique and it is very helpful with used along side these folktales he likes to tell. One of the things holding this book back from being a higher rating is that it probably won't hold up. It will be a fine book in another twenty years, but it will not be memorable. I expect a book like American Gods to hold up, but this one only time will tell. Though overall I didn't like this book as much as I would have hoped I still have fun reading it. It is a fun book that will make you laugh when you don't expect it. I would still recommend this to others who enjoy Neil Gaiman. Its not a book that I would recommend to everyone, but if asked I would say its a fine book to read. I would probably give this book a 5 out of 10 on a subjective scale. Its a fine book. Objectively I gave this a 3/5, just a straight 6 out of 10.

Book started out great but turned more and more in an strange and incoherent story . The end was more like you expect in a 10 cent novel , too bad .
