Wrede knows how to write fantasy and make it interesting! I grew very attached to the characters and only rate it 4 stars because I couldn't finish the 4th book. There are fewer characters you know and more that you don't, and for me it was too much and I stopped caring. The first three were wonderful, though, especially the first two!

Cimmorene is what every little girl should aspire to: smart, sassy, and independent. She'd rather run away and live with a dragon than marry the prince her parents picked out for her.

I read these ages ago when I was in middle school, then high school and college. These are books I can always go back to and always enjoy.

Originally read in the 6th grade, reread on a sporadic basis, and read again now as a 29 year old... these stories have lost none of their humor, polish, or, well, enchantment.

I read "Dealing with Dragons" years ago, and didn't realize it was a series.
I enjoyed this series so much that as soon as I had finished reading it from the library I bought the books to read to my kids.

There is simply no way for me to completely explain my love for these books. I fell in love years ago with the rich characters, and the setting. Oh, the lovely setting. So vivid I wanted to take a nose dive into the spine of the book and jump right into the story. So vivid the imagery I could shove my nose into the pages and smell the scent of the forest, the sweat of the battles and the smoke of the dragons. I have not read many books of this caliber, so original, so totally engrossing that I wasn't physically able to tear my eyes away from the pages. My review doesn't even do these books justice. There are simple no words to describe how amazing this series was, and if there are, then they escape me. But seriously, read these books.

Tied with [b:the Song of the Lionness|13835|In the Hand of the Goddess (Song of the Lioness, #2)|Tamora Pierce|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255669200s/13835.jpg|1142860] series for my favorite series ever. Fantastic because Mendanbar (hero from book 2) is almost as completely amazing as Cimorene (heroine from book 1). Funny in every book, amazing characters, great playing with old fairy tales and narratives you thought couldn't be revived, and overall just really good to read.
