I loved this book and I hated this book (for the reason that I felt so deeply about this book and it’s enticing characters.) I certainly did not expect this book as a whole even after knowing the myth of Persephone and Hades. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Trying to reshape Greek mythology into a queer consensual context is a difficult task, and one that this novel takes up only on the surface. I was left pleading for more detail, depth, and characterization beyond wild archetypes. While giving us a narrative about the evils of a patriarchal ruler, the critical insight into gender politics at the heart of the novel remains light especially given the omnipresent discussion of rape. With that said, I did appreciate the possibility of a lesbian Hades and a Persephone that is free to love and choose.

It's a nice book! Hades and Persephone but make it lesbian, truly amazing. The characters are lovable and I loved the new tropes that the author added to the book. The relationship was cute and you could see how much they love each other. My favorite part was how Elysium was portrayed, as well as the resolution of the dead finding peace and helping one another, I thought it was beautiful how forgiveness was presented. Pallas was also a character that I loved, but I was left wanting better for her. Finally, I liked how the pomegranate was used in the story, it was really creative and new way to show this part of the myth. I would recommend this book to anybody that would appreciate an f/f Hades and Persephone novel, it's also really quick to read! For the lesbians who love greek mythology ;) Make sure to take into consideration the content warnings
