Exactly what I was looking for today.

Will there be a sequel?

Really interesting world and plot but found the writing a little disjointed and clunky. Had to backtrack a few times to see if I’d missed something.

For most of this book I was like wtf. The story just felt rushed to me. I think it would have been a little better if the story was a little longer and more flushed out.

This is a very efficiently written book. By that I mean every single chapter is pushing the characters towards the climax of the book.

As a side effect the characters don’t get a lot of time to breath emotionally. There are changes in their dynamics/relationships that happen very quickly. These changes are not poorly written and don’t come off as rushed but as a reader I like for emotional beats to sit more, I personally like a little more time with characters when they’re building relationships with each other.

It’s not a bad book, and the writing is engaging. I was invested. But, not enough to continue on if there are further stories that follow this one. Mostly because it’s just not a format that I prefer.

I loved how this one started, and overall I probably enjoyed the book up until the point where Pendt escaped into the station. The worldbuilding was interesting and Pendt herself was interesting. However the plot not only veered into predictability pretty soon afterwards, but the narrative more often than not turned into a sort of stream-of-consciousness description of the characters feelings and thoughts.

I'll give it two stars for the sake of the first half of the book, but I can't say I was not disappointed by the flimsy resolution.
