I really enjoyed the writing! It was fast paced and very descriptive. I loved the eerie atmosphere. I have a fascination with the ballet so I think that’s what drew me into the story. I love when someone’s passion is expressed through a story I can feel the desperation and the longing to be accepted and also looked at in awe as a ballerina would want to be. I think some of the writing was a little cheesy but overall I loved this book. Great for the Halloween season!

Wait, wait, wait!!! This is a DEBUT?! I would never have guessed that. This was so thrilling and I didn’t want to stop reading. The writing was so unique and lyrical and I was hooked from the first sentence. Laure is a ballet dancer, and has had to endure and battle racism and bias every step of the way, but wants to turn her fate around. And let me tell you the ballet world is CUTTHROAT in this book, and I’m sure in real life too, but I hope not THIS much. There is competition, revenge, death, FEMALE RAGE, and such a dark, creepy vibe to this book which I LOVED. It was truly haunting! I also loved how unapologetic our protagonist was! I’m a sucker for a villain origin story I gotta say, and she was exceptional. Relatable, understandable, she had it all. I loved her! I really needed a book like this right now where I could FEEL the anger radiating off the pages. It was so cathartic to read while also being gripping and tense. The pacing was great, although it did drag a big in the second half, but it didn’t take away from how fun this was to read. If you like horror or thriller, and good social commentary I recommend this to you! I didn’t except this at all, but I am so glad I picked it up! I am stoked to see what the second book holds. Jamison Shea is an incredible author and I can only imagine how much better their writing got in the second book considering this was their debut!! I will definitely look into their other books too!
