4 Stars..
Covert Assignment was a book I enjoyed reading. The story was fast paced, the writing interesting and the characters intriguing.
The things I liked:
Elle - The way she grew up in this book. Her character evolved throughout the story and I loved seeing the transition.
Preston - Hot men make my day. Throw in some badass charm, a gun and a job at the CIA and you get this guy. Sweet, protective and outgoing, he's the perfect balance to Elle's geekiness:)
Marnie - LOVED this girl!! She's literally another version of someone I know in real life and quite frankly, spiced up this book.
Things that could have been better:
The ending somehow didn't do it for me. It was a tad rushed and I would have liked another chapter or two.
All said and done, Covert Assignment was a good book. Pick it up if you want a fun, light- hearted read..
*I recieved a free E-book from the author in exchange for a honest review*

If you’re like me, a fan of TV shows like Alias and Covert Affairs and you enjoy new adult books, you have to check out Covert Assignment. It was a really good start to a new series I’m excited about. I love a good, smart, strong heroine and Elle certainly fits the bill.
After being betrayed by her long-time boyfriend, a total skeeze named Adam, Elle begins to question everything about her life and the path she thought she was on. Elle begins a journey of self-discovery, both professionally and personally, with the help of sexy, swoony CIA agent Preston Riddick. Along the way, she learns to embrace the life she wants and make the decisions that *she* wants to make, not those that were always assumed by others.
Covert Assignment was just a fun book. With an interesting plot filled with suspense, action, betrayal, friendship, romance and a couple seriously sexy scenes, it held my attention. I was sad to see it end. I don’t read a lot of suspense/action books, but I’ll make an exception for this series. I look forward to seeing where it goes in the next book, Covert Interview.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

One semester from leaving her university in her past and preparing for adult life, Elle has it all worked out. Go to her father's alma mater and double in law and business, marry her college sweetheart Adam and then settle down and start a family by the time Elle and Adam are in their early thirties. Sounds perfect, right? Spanner is thrown into the works when Elle returns from Christmas break to find intimate photos of Adam and someone who very definitely isn't Elle.
Determined not to let Adam's cheating ways ruin her final semester, Elle tries to work out if she wants to salvage that relationship whilst still working on her thesis project. A project that - unknown to Elle - is funded by the CIA. Working closely with a field operative, Preston Raddick, Elle manages to somehow prepare for adult life whilst making the most of her time in college.
I love the concept of this novel. It reminded me of the tv show, Chuck - with top secret agencies cherry picking graduating classes for their newest recruits. Elle is apparently very logical and methodical which would make her a great analyst. However, I didn't see very much of her analytical nature when it came to dealing with her personal life. Elle came across as incredibly judgemental and (especially with regards to the Adam situation) needed her friends to make her decisions for her. I think her reaction and actions to Adam's betrayal were slightly hollow with Elle never talking about how she felt about the whole situation. It made me like her less as a character because I perceived her to be more upset about her future plans being ruined rather than having anything to do with feelings or heartbreak.
Spy wise - I like where this book was heading. Elle got a taste of exactly what life as an operative might entail. There's drama and slight suspense although it only really occurred in the tail end of the book. Elle's friends were a little over the top but fiercely loyal and Elle definitely needed that. I had some issues with some of the things that occurred in this book (like what was with Elle's family at the end. That felt so completely out of character) but overall it was an entertaining read and a new adult novel that focused on the bridge between college and adulthood.

Suspense, romance, betrayal, hot/raw sex, friendship and “sampling” all rolled into one book makes for quite the wow factor. This book had my attention from page 1 all the way to The End. This book, definitely an 18+ one, added some spice where one would think the total geek would win over. Thankfully the spice won out.
The story starts in the 4th year of college, but Elle had already received her Bachelor’s and was finishing up her Masters. Yes, she’s smart, but she also took classes through the summer breaks instead of dealing with two sets of parents who seemed to just toss her aside like a spare. Dealt a serious blow with her boyfriend of two years, it threw her final semester at this college into chaos. Her ability with numbers, variables, and all things Information Science along with her thesis work caught the eye of a group that found it useful to an advantage that few would even consider. In turn Elle finds herself rethinking her future and growing in leaps and bounds with self-confidence and more.
I have to say; all along I was expecting this story to take a certain twist on me. I was expecting Preston to not be who he portrayed himself to be. The attacks were somewhat played out well, but needed a bit more to them to seem more believable. I also felt a bit more snarkiness would have been fitting in the way her relations with Adam played out. Now, the hot factor was there, but just not enough. The author gave us readers some very informative reading but I feel that she kind of teased us with it. Like here you go, than smacking our hand away when we wanted more.
Like I said earlier, this is definitely an 18+ book. Anyone who likes some sexual hotness mixed with braininess and a thriller would devour this book in a heartbeat. If you are looking for Fifty Shades, this is not it. If you are looking for Alex Cross, this is not it. If you are looking for something light, fun with a touch of drama, this is it.

I recevied this book for a honest review and as a part of the tour! Thanks!:) Original post on: http://nervidetoamna.blogspot.ro
What made me read this book?
The cover, the synopsis and I had a feeling that is going to be a good, fund and interesting read. And it was.
Even it's a short book I enjoyed it and all the time I was reading it, I was eager to find out more, and more, and more. The characters and the action are so addicting and I fly through it. What I'm sorry for? That it ended so fast... :(
I won't talk about the action part because it's your job to find out what is goin to happen, what Elle would do with her life, what decission would make and what is going to happen with the CIA "job". This is a kind of book that you don't really know how to expect that will be. Will be fun and light or full of suspense and action pact? Well, is kind of a mix between this too and the balance make the book better. We have light part, full of jokes, student life, love and friendship, but also we have spyes and misions and thief and all kind of stuff.
Elle is a good girl, smart, and she starts to change, to see things differently, to see clearly and to decide what she really wants for her future. Will she make the best decision or will she do what her dad say? How her life would change when she starts to work with Preston? How is truly he? And what's the problem with Adam, is he really a "stupid" guy?
Well you will find out if you read this book. And I really recommend it to you if you like spyes, light, funny, romantic read. But also if you are looking for something with action and suspense.

I won this series months ago, and I am only just getting around to reading them all.
These are a cute series about a college girl recruited into the CIA - though I am not a huge NA reader (this is mostly due to my age and the age of the characters, they are all a little young for this old bird!!)
I liked the storyline and the characters - though I wanted to yell at Elle to stop being a doormat for everyone (though she finally did, thankfully).
I was interested to see where things would go with the hottie CIA guy Preston and to see where Elle's life would go.
Gotta say, her boy Adam was a douche of the highest degree - I didn't like him at all!
Now on to the next book!

So this is a very hard book to classify. Sure it's a YA/NA book but a lot of the worst excesses (weird names/tattoos/excess wealth/musicality etc) aren't evident. Also I couldn't really see where the CIA plot was going - turns out it didn't really go anywhere.
Elle comes from a dysfunctional family. Her parents divorced early and remarried other people. Both have since almost tried to forget that she exists. Elle comes back for her final semester at college to find explicit photos on the internet of her fiancé and a girl from his class. Suddenly all her plans for a future after college with Adam have come crashing around her ears. So far so NA/YA right?
Elle's thesis is about data tracking in online gaming. Specifically being able to identify individual players even if they use different names or computers. It turns out that her thesis is being funded by the CIA which is using her work to identify potential terrorists. Cue one hot CIA agent, Preston, who has to work closely with Elle on the data.
Now I had a few issues with Preston, in fact I thought he might be a terrorist plant at one point (might have made it more interesting?). He sees Elle get upset after she overhears the girl who was photographed with Adam talking and it becomes clear that this was not a one-off and that he is still having sex with her - despite telling Elle it was a one-off and he hasn't had sex with her since. He gets Elle tipsy and has sex with her. All bad decisions. He also coaches Elle on her CIA interviews and shows her a CIA safe room at the University. These do not appear to be the actions of a mature CIA agent.
Then the terrorists appear to have identified that Elle and Preston (or people in the lab) are collating information to identify them and concoct a plot to attack them. The attack is averted and that's the end of the book. I felt there was something missing. If this were billed as a prequel I could understand it better.

Given by the author for an honest review
Covert Assignment was AMAZING!!!
I was 1000% addicted to Elle,Preston,CIA and all the mystery and espionage surrounding them from the very first page!!!
I remember being half way through the book and thinking "God,please tell me that there's a next book coming up..It's too good to end in only one book!"..And after I finished it,I contacted the author Missy..She's really great by the way..Anyhow..She told me there are 2 more books..I literally jumped up and down from glee..
And that was my happy playful journey of reading it..
>>Elle is really a great person..She may not appear very assertive...But she IS fiery..She's stubborn, persistent, intelligent and pretty damn funny..She takes people seriously..She thinks before she acts and takes every variable into consideration!..I found myself relating to her very much,I admit..I'm an overthinker just like her..But when we decide on a course of action, when we know what we want, when we know what's the best choice for us..We just go for it!..
And if it weren't obvious,I clearly state that I adore Elle!
>>Preston..mmm..He's the mysterious CIA operative..And Hot of course..He knows the perfect thing to say..He pretty much seems like the perfect man..He may have some commitment issues..And he certainly has secrets..We shall see in the next book!!(and yes I'm grinning as I write that)...
>>Now about the rest of the characters..I can't say that they made a good impression on me,regarding their personalities..Her friends didn't seem to me like very good friends..Her ex is a jerk..Her family is weird, good weird I think..They have their moments..
I really liked Elle's advisor at the university..He seemed very admirable, intelligent, kind and he certainly loved Elle as his own daughter..
In conclusion,Go and Buy this book!!!It's amazing!

What happens when the plan you’ve had since you were a kid has a wrench thrown in it? That’s exactly what happens to college senior Elle when she discovers intimate pictures between her boyfriend, Adam, and his project partner. As if that isn’t enough, Elle gets a new partner for her thesis, Preston Raddick, who she finds out is really funding her project as an undercover investigation for the CIA. As things heat up between Elle and Preston and she gets closer to completing her thesis, she finds herself thrown into a world of danger where she finds herself questioning if her plan is really what she wants.
The story showed a lot of growth for Elle. She is your typical good college student. She’s worked hard to stay in school funded by only scholarships since her parents find her more of an annoyance than an asset although she has finally come to terms with that. When her world gets turned upside down by her boyfriend’s betrayal and the deception of her thesis, she doesn’t know where to turn. Sure, her best friends and roommates can offer advice about her love life but how can she deviate from her paved pathway. The only person she can speak to about her project is Preston but she wonders where his intentions truly lie. As the bond between her and Preston grows, Elle find herself fighting for her life, showing strength and courage she never thought she had. And speaking of Preston, yum! I can just picture this sexy, mysterious secret agent. From questioning her life plan to sampling new things, he’s the one who really pulls her from her comfort zone. The only real question is if he’s in it for the long haul.
Missy has done a wonderful job of creating a coming of age story. The plot snatches you up and doesn’t let go until the very end. Her main character, Elle, shows a lot of growth throughout and the romance is ahhhmazing. It doesn’t hurt that there’s a hot agent involved either. The ending offers closure for this part of the story but offers a cliffhanger of sorts pulling you into the next book. I can’t wait to read Covert Interview which comes out on December 2nd.
I would recommend this book to fans of new adult romance. With the CIA angle, it would also be appropriate for those who like a good romantic suspense.
