I did enjoy reading it but it didn't satisfied a lot. Xavier is really cute and it reminds me of Parker the husband of Aspyn.
Any ways I do recommend it just that it wasn't completely for me. I wish I could give it three and a half stars.

It's an interesting story that is somewhat unique, but had moments of predictability and while it is written very well by an 18 year old, it is still written by an 18 year old. Will probably read the sequels as an interest in the development of the writer and further twists in the story.

The better part was the romance. The lesser part was the plot.
Di awal aku cukup menikmati membaca ini. Gaya bahasanya sederhana, mudah dibaca, dan somehow cocok dengan karakter naratornya yaitu Bethany, malaikat muda yang turun ke bumi, sangat polos and childlike. Romance-nya sangat... vanilla. Xavier is a decent nice guy. Baca interaksi mereka tuh so sweet, innocent, cute. Menyenangkan unyu gitu dibacanya :3 Seandainya selesai di romance aja, aku siap memberi 3 bintang.
Sayangnya di paruh akhir, plotnya jadi terasa rushed. Kemunculan Jake Thorn yang tiba-tiba, lalu worldbuilding yang kurang kuat semakin terasa di paruh akhir. Ada banyak potensi yang bisa dikembangkan dari premis awal buku ini tapi akhirnya mentok ke romance aja. Evil vs good-nya juga terlalu.... dogmatis? Terlalu hitam-putih. Tindakan baik contohnya adalah volunteering di panti jompo, pergi ke gereja, menghindari seks sebelum nikah. Tindakan buruk seperti merampok, bahkan suicide, adalah akibat bujukan setan. As if ga ada kehendak manusia untuk menentukan tindakannya sendiri? Ratingnya saya kurangi karena itu.

I rated this a 4/5 stars. I really enjoyed getting to see how the angels accustomed to human life and tendencies. Following the first book, you could see how naive and innocent Bethany is until she meets human boy Xavier. She begins lying and deceiving her brother Gabriel and sister Ivy, in order to secretly see Xavier. I enjoyed the pure and innocent relationship that Bethany and Xavier have, even though I bought this under the impression that there was steamy romance. Still a good read, and I recommend it.

I tried reading this and couldn't get into it the first time round so I got it on audio book and started to enjoy it more but.... by halfway through it started to become very predictable. Of course there's a love triangle going on and one guy is good and the other is evil. There's also rebellion from the main character Bethany and I found that she was very naive. I know that she has never had human experiences before but her innocence became annoying. I also found that it was very religious, and yes I know it's about Angels, but I felt there was a lot of God talk in there than what I cared for. I do have something good to say and that is that it's written really well for an 18 year old but unfortunately I don't think I'll read the next books in the trilogy because I didn't connect with the characters.

Okay. I've never written a negative review before so bare with me. I'll try to just say what I didn't like without ranting, I promise.
I was so disappointed by this book. The premise of Angels coming to heaven to try to steer humanity in the right direction really intrigued me. But this book turned out to be... Twilight with angels. The romance overtook everything else and these two fall for each other for no apparent reason. Their love was suddenly each others whole reason for living. Bethany forgot about her mission and everything but Xavier.
The plot that didn't revolve around their relationship was interesting, but what little there was of it completely disappeared.
If you loved Twilight and didn't find anything wrong about their relationship, then I think you would like this book. I was sad that I didn't like it because I had such high hope. Sadly, I only give this book one star.

Am I late to the game on this one or what?
I cannot say why I had put this one off for the time I have because once I picked it up it was impossible to put down. The characters are well-written where a connection can be felt to them. It's not even the need to relate to them, it's having the basic understanding of why the character does as they do rather than questions what they are even doing. The setting is fleshed out and easy to picture. Is done on a very nice show, not tell sort of thing even if it is in Bethany's POV. The plot was fantastic even though I was aware Halo is part of a trilogy because this books events are crossed off even while giving a push to the next book.
Overall Halo was one of the few books I've enjoyed where angel and human romance wasn't about "we can be together and end the world or put aside our selfish needs and stay friends" sort of deal. Yes, it is forbidden and yet it shows how even though they've been given the green light to go there are still parts of their relationship that is held back and how being together is hindering Bethany in the mission at Venus Cove. It makes the unrealistic romance more realistic.
Not to spoil anything, but I liked how Molly despite having put herself out there for Xavier and had been rejected did not dismiss Bethany as a friend when Xavier picked her. This is a bit undone later on when Jake Thorn is involved and yet I cannot even dislike it then because it's part of what is going wrong in the town. I LOVED how the girls accepted Bethany as she was. They might have pushed her to "loosen up" but it was never ill intent. It was for her to simply enjoy herself and be like a teenager. I thought the moments where she didn't understand some mortal things were really cute. Halo was written to be relatable even though our main characters are angels.
Speaking of angels, Gabriel and Ivy were perfect to balance out Bethany. It's not even the "age" difference between the trio. Gabe is by the book, focus on the mission, and do what is best for man. He has the best interests for humans and Bethany. It's the fact he cares is why he is strict. Then there is Ivy who is also by the book, but in a down-to-earth sort of way. She understands the line between angels and humans, yet doesn't mind enjoying their time on earth even though pressing matters are needing to be taken care of. She puts effort into their mission and all the same wants all of them to breathe for a moment. It gave balance to the book and Bethany's character because she had siblings involved who cared about her the most and were protecting her for her sake not their own or anyone else's.
Pick this up. I regret not reading it sooner. I'm going to scramble to find the next two at a used bookstore.
