This book is certainly an entertaining retelling of the myth of Troy. While doing that it manages to make surprisingly insightful observations of human nature. The plot is rather all over the place though, so the book took some time to get into.

Another brilliant book approaching one of my favourite topics: Greek myths, historicity and the blending of truth and fiction. It's a who's who of all the big names, Ajax, Hector, Agamemnon, Achilles, etc. If you think watching the crappy Brad Pitt film, or reading the timeless classic Homer's Iliad is enough, think again! The story of Troy, From Paris's birth all the way to Clytemnestra's revenge, would have enough source material to fuel a 6-season tv show. I love it all.

I do wish that Fry almost went over-indulgent and inter-spliced some of his own musings as to what he judged to be a minor character's backstory, but then again it would make the book bigger than Mythos and Heroes combined.

Highly recommend, probably my favourite of the three.
