This book was a pleasant surprise! I went into it some time back and about 30% or so through felt nothing was happening and left it for a while but I’m so glad I gave it another shot!
It’s been a really long time since I read a fantasy book that has kept me on my toes like this. It was suspenseful and sweet and spicy and honestly my only issues with it were the slow-ish beginning and the ending. The ending itself wasn’t in any way bad it was actually really heartfelt, but it made the whole book feel like it could have been avoided if Boreas had just done this one thing you know?
But honestly Boreas and Wren’s story was quite enjoyable and I had a lot of fun reading it!

I enjoyed that this book had a similar feel to Uprooted at first (it felt kind of like if Uprooted was written by Jennifer Armentrout) but I found the spicier scenes awkward and the slow pacing just made this not for me.
Also wasn't crazy about the weird infantilization of the sister. It would have made more sense if Wren was substantially older than her but they're the same age.
I would have also liked to see Wren have more personality depth than just alcoholic horny liar. And by 50% in I would have hoped she'd have some character development but it just wasn't there.
I was going to push through since I was over 50% in but then when I thought about sitting through 7 more hours of it and how much I was not looking forward to that I decided it was time to DNF.
