sometimes a family is a group of people who have all tried to kill each other and that's ok. beautiful even.

i am bawling my eyes out.

(also no this volume wasn't that good, but tokyo ghoul is such a comfort piece of media for me and that whole last part almost makes up for it bc i'm sad) (does it deserve 5 stars? probably not. still, i feel too emotionally connected to give it anything else lol)

I don't like reviewing manga. I think you get through them too quickly for a 'proper' review to be meaningful. I'd rather share my thoughts when I'm finished reading a series, so that's what I'm going to do here.
Tokyo Ghoul gets a lot of mixed reviews. Its at times very confusing and hard to follow, it's dark and twisted but I think it has a lot of heart as well. RE was a completely different kettle of fish to 'Tokyo Ghoul'. There are a lot of new characters to learn remember and a few returning favourites. The essential plot of ghoul vs human is still there, but the battleground has changed somewhat, as has the pawns.
On the whole I really enjoyed the series but for me the huge cast made me nostalgic for the good old Anteiku days. I miss the intimacy of the smaller cast and wasn't a big fan of how the story kepy flipping around all over the place. Also I felt like we got cheated by the death of one of the characters. It shouldn't have ended that way for them!!
Overall though I'm happy with where the story went in general, though it defiantly went a little nuts towards the end, seriously how many times can you 'kill' off a character?

Something I will say is that I absolutely love the art style, and the cover art for this manga is stunning. I could look at it all day long. I hope the creator continues producing such entertaining content, though I think it would be nice if this world was laid to rest. Too much of a good thing kinda of ruins the effect.
I'd recommend watching the anime as well, though be prepared for how may many changes they make from the manga. It's still an enjoyable watch in my opinion but its fair to say the source material is much better.

5/5

"If I were to write a book with me as the main character ... it would be a tragedy... actually ... all of us we're all main characters in a tragedy."

I absolutely devoured all 16 volumes in the span of 48 hours and wow what a ride. I feel like I have whiplash from all of the shocked gasps and tears that have come out of my mouth the last couple of hours. I didn't really know what I was expecting from these books because the original series was so so strong but I think this continuation was absolutely critical. I honestly believe that Kaneki is a very special character... I have never seen a character go through so much change in a story but wow I loved every single moment and definitely think many senses will stick with me for a very long time.

I think this series really stepped it up in terms of plot because wow I'm still reeling but with such an intimate plot the characters never suffered again I think the journey of Kaneki is a masterpiece and I will always have a soft spot for Juzo. Also the new characters from Haise's Quinx squad were incredible and I can't believe how invested I became in their stories, I also think all of the original characters were handled with such care and I loved all of their story lines and I can't believe how much I ended up loving Shu and Ayato

if your looking for a twisted story with some of the most beautiful art ive ever seen then Tokyo Ghoul is it sis! now im just going to go finish crying
adventurous dark tense fast-paced
