The Christmas Fix

I love a good small town romance and this was no exception. Catalina King is a reality TV star who is desperate to help a town after a hurricane destroys it. Noah the grumpy single Dad come town manager absolutely despises Cat and everything that comes with her celebrity status.

I struggled with the 3rd person POV but when I got used to that I really did enjoy reading it.

Loved the enemies to lovers romance was brilliant. Think Christmas Hallmark film with some added spice. Easy Cheesy, Christmas page turner.

She tasted like danger. And for once in his life, Noah wanted to slide a toe over the line onto the wild side.

This book is a light fun filled Christmas romance and the perfect story for a cold Sunday🎄❄️

I enjoyed it from the first to the last page ! Following Cat and Noah’s story gave me a few laughs and the exact sense of enjoyment I was chasing by picking that book on my shelves ✨

I loved every single word written in that book 👏🏻Period👏🏻

Hilarious banter, tension and spice, a strong independent goal-driven FMC with a big heart, a stubborn MMC dilf holding a lot of prejudice, and a bunch of amazing sidekicks ! ⚒️✨

"You drive me nuts. You push my buttons. And you put my pieces back together. I’ve never been happier. You’re it for me. And I hope I’m it for you.”

Cute, I like a strong female lead. A bit predictable but definitely enjoyed.

DID NOT FINISH: 9%

Here we go again...

I tried. I really did, but this was another written in third person, and I just can't. No matter how hard I try, I just can't connect to it. I managed to get 9% in, but I have no desire at all to continue. I'm actually really sad because I'd heard so many good things about this one, and Lucy is an auto read author for me. I have no doubt it's a great story, I just can't read third person writing, at least not right now, it would seem.

Maybe I'll try another Christmas read in December now. I fear I've jinxed it 😂 One thing for sure is that I will be checking the writing style prior to committing to the next one!!! I hate DNFing, I always feel so bad.

Absolutely loved this!!! What a terrific holiday read. Highly recommend reading Mr Fixer Upper first!

Lucy Score writes an amazing Holiday Romance. This was the perfect book to round out my Christmas reading extravaganza, finishing it on Christmas day in the few moments I was able to hide from my family to read. When Reno & Realty star Cat King sets her sights on the town of Merry for a Christmas special, town manager and single dad Noah Yates is hell bent on blocking her from swooping in and saving the small town from the hurricane damage it incurred. Over the course of filming, their fighting turns to flirting, and flirting turns to falling. Cat has a busy life, jet setting while working to open up her own trade school, and Noah is happily settled in Merry. The big question is: can they make it work?
Cat King is everything I want HGTV stars to be - smart, pretty, good both on and off camera at everything she does. Being that this is a romance novel there is always the threat of paper doll characters, but Cat grows as the story goes on while continuing to have the flaws that make a character interesting. She has connections with more than just the MMC and the plucky side character, and she is truly invested in creating a space for women to learn trades when they aren’t always an accessible career path. I personally take no issue with her, or with Noah who was a pretty positive depiction of a single dad - not incompetent or floundering, but simply struggling to connect with his daughter once in a while which I can say every parent does at least once in a while. He can cook, clean, has a job, owns a home, and he is generally very responsible. It’s nice to see a single dad who is not only rocking it, but isn’t relegated to the “fun dad” or “bad dad” archetypes we always get. His relationship with his ex is healthy and never truly becomes an issue aside from a small misunderstanding that only lasts a few hours in-story.
The overarching conflict in this book is the dreaded “long distance relationships don’t work” trope. Although I personally couldn’t swing long distance, I find that Cat probably could have. She and Noah aren’t serious enough (imo) to warrant him moving across the country with her right away, but they definitely could have given it a shot for a year if they really tried. Alas the trope requires that we HATE LDRs, and therefore we cannot have a healthy one - except if it is part-time! Thankfully Cat didn’t have to sacrifice any of the good things in her life for Noah, not for lack of trying, and they made it work in a way that made sense.
The spice was great - there were enough scenes and they lasted long enough and had enough detail for the book to actually be considered relatively spicy!

This was an enemies to lovers story (I didn’t realize Cats twin brother Gannon and his wife had a book before!). But it stands on its own!

Catalina King is a reality TV show star who wants to save the town of Merry after hurricane destroys a vast majority of it. The grumpy town manager, Noah, and her hilariously butt heads. Noah, a divorced dad of Sara, over time realizes Cat isn’t just a pretty famous face, but she is also caring and generous - she’s trying to build a school to help women build careers! Overall, great and fun read and I love a good epilogue!

Lucy Score created a great small town in this book and I liked the story idea. I had to get used to the 3rd POV at first, but that didn't bother me as the story progressed because you still have both points of view. I liked Cat as the protagonist because she is very caring and has a strong character. On the other hand, I found Noah quite annoying until halfway through the book because I couldn't understand him. I found his attitude towards Cat too exaggerated and therefore didn't find the Haters to Lovers relationship between the two of them entirely convincing at the beginning. Nevertheless, you could feel the tension between them.
I really enjoyed the second half of the book. Noah's behavior changes and you also learn more about his past, which makes his initial attitude a little more understandable. The supporting characters rounded off the story nicely and I liked the setting.
Overall, it entertained me well.
