The Christmas Fix

Lucy Score

3.81 AVERAGE

i really enjoyed this!! i liked the characters and the pacing and the entire concept was totally fresh and this was just a super fun read. the banter was great the sex scenes were great and i was still engaged even after they were “together” which like never happens ! i even teared up a bit at the end lololol. HOWEVER i have a major problem with how the fmc talked about food and her own body in this. when she first brought up needing to eat something super healthy so she doesn’t “look big” or whatever tf on camera i was like ok…. and then it happened again and i was like maybe this is going to be a theme explored in here and she will end up overcoming this by the end! but nope!!! it just kept fuckin happening!!!!!! and she even talked about it to her love interest’s 12 year old daughter like my god. yeah i couldn’t look past it and actually the more i think about it the more mad i get lmfao

The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score is the second installment in the King Siblings series, but it’s a delightful standalone holiday romance that perfectly blends the heartwarming charm of a Hallmark movie with the engaging and relatable feel of an HGTV show. This fun, fast-paced rom-com takes readers to the small town of Merry, Connecticut, where the Christmas spirit and a touch of romance are about to transform the community.

At the heart of the story is Cat King, a successful, strong, and fiercely independent woman who runs a popular Home Makeover Reality TV series. Cat is determined to help the town of Merry recover from the devastation of a recent hurricane. She brings not just her expertise but her whole family along to help film the show and lend their support. This aspect adds a unique twist to the story, infusing it with a cozy, family-oriented vibe that makes it stand out. Cat’s journey is not without obstacles, though, especially when she encounters Noah, Merry’s broody and protective town manager. A single father to a teenage daughter, Noah is fiercely devoted to his family and is hesitant to allow Cat and her crew to come in and “exploit” the town’s tragedy for entertainment. However, what Noah doesn’t expect is that Cat King isn’t like anyone he’s ever met before. Her confidence, drive, and warmth gradually chip away at his defenses, making for a delightful enemies-to-lovers dynamic that keeps readers invested.

This book does a fantastic job of building the chemistry between Cat and Noah, balancing the tension with moments of humor, sweet interactions, and undeniable attraction. There were times I found myself wanting to jump into the pages and shake Noah into recognizing just how great Cat is—proof of how well Score develops the characters and their dynamic. Cat’s unwavering determination and ability to stand her ground make her a standout FMC, someone readers can root for without hesitation. And Noah, despite his gruff exterior, reveals a depth of vulnerability and devotion that makes him irresistible.

It also shines in its portrayal of family. Cat’s entire family temporarily moving to the set for the filming of the show during the holiday season adds a warm, supportive atmosphere that perfectly complements the romantic storyline. The relationship between Noah and his daughter is equally touching and adds another layer of heart to the story. The Christmas Fix is a captivating blend of holiday cheer, romance, and a bit of home renovation magic. While it’s not the most groundbreaking story in the genre, it’s incredibly entertaining and full of the elements that make for an enjoyable holiday read. The enemies-to-lovers trope is well-executed, and the characters are both relatable and endearing. With a strong, successful female lead and a broody single dad who’s hard not to love, this book is an easy 4/5 ⭐
