I had a lot of preconceived notions about this book before I started it. I saw all 3 of the movies a couple of years ago and I did not like them. Frodo’s character was unbearable. However, I felt differently while reading this book because I enjoyed the story. I think the characters are so beautifully written and thought out. I tried to read the hobbit at least 3 times before reading this book and I just couldn’t get in sync with the writing, so I decided to listen to the audiobook and physically read it. I highly recommend this audiobook. The reader does so many voices and actually sings and there is music and sound effects. It really adds to the experience of the book.

Tolkien is the master of fantasy books.
I fell in love with The Hobbit and now I have to read all of his books.
The Fellowship Of The Ring is incredibly detailed. I love the poems, songs, and art work throughout the book. It gives you the sense of being immersed in the world. It is a slow paced book, but definitely worth reading. A lot of adventure involving many different characters. Highly recommend

Andy Serkis’ narration is wonderfully immersive. It’s easy to follow and paints a true picture of Tolkien’s writing.

Hobbit was so much better 🥴 even though this book’s corresponding movie is a favorite

In the aftermath of the Karabakh war in 2020, I was looking for something heart-warming, something simple - without too many ethical pickles. While I don't usually enjoy battle scenes and heroic stories, the movies gave me the much desired comfort in these hard times. I could for once forget the complexity of life, the psychological dilemmas forced upon myself by war and simply enjoy this simple tale of friendship, courage and ultimate victory of good.

I am reading the series as the source material of the movies and I really enjoyed the first book in that respect. There were scenes that gave more depth to what I already knew and I got to appreciate the director's choices. I am looking forward to discovering the book version of my favourite character- the Gollum.
