This story is enchanting and sweet. It reminded me of The House in the Cerulean Sea minus the children.

Whimsical, fun and just cozy. I love the magic system is this series. The characters are lovable and cute. I’m interested to see more.

The first half of the book was a little slow, but the second half of the book was amazing!  Merritt has just inherited an enchanted house - and a “housekeeper” named Hulda, employed by the Boston Institution for the Keeping of Enchanted Rooms.  Together, they work to discover the source of the home’s magic, finding something more along the way.

Elsewhere in the story is Silas, an evil wizard who has been stealing the magic from others for years.  Although he is supposed to be in prison, he is out and is searching for the housekeeper responsible for putting him there - Hulda.

Our two stories eventually collide in a battle to the death.  In the nail-biting second half of the book, we see Merritt and Hulda fight for their lives - and their love.

With a great plot and a sweet, slow-burn romance, I highly suggest giving this book a shot!
