The Reluctant Wife

L. Steele

3.56 AVERAGE

Feel the fire that stirs the senses and awakens the heart. Ryot and Aurelia plow through the boundaries that life throws at them to find a place to truly belong. Steele aims for the heart and captures the soul. From unpredictable to irresistible, The Reluctant Wife holds nothing back. With every twist and turn, you lose a little bit more of your heart to these haunting characters.

DID NOT FINISH: 11%

“She knows I’m an alpha male?” I was already struggling, and that was the last straw.

DNF !!
0 stars…
That was so bad I dissnt even finish it !!!
First of all, I don’t read this type of smut BDSM, that was really bad, I was taken by surprise and it was the center of the book!!

The arranged marriage trope was supposed to be good but was really bad, not enough story and plot nothing happening

The character of Riot was insufferable, with nothing to do or to say but to speak of his ex wife !!!! Then there is his treatment of the protagonist, going form cold to hot with no explanations, violent than apparently soft.
The entire book is the same plot no I can’t love you but the chemistry is there and I want to f•ck you….
Aurera does not have a personality, she is a princess but at the same time she is not, she just wants to sleep with her bodyguard….
She is too inondent and stupid compared to him and that’s not at all representative of a relationship….

So I am really sad, I saw a post on this arranged marriage trope and the plot of the first chapter d faking being married to avoid unwanted and unsolicited attention in the bar… and 8 thought why not ?
Well that’s clear I will never read form this author again !

I realized, a ways in, that I came into this at a Book 4 in the series—that does explain some things, but it wasn’t hard to roll with it.

Royals.
Arranged marriage.
Bodyguard romance.
Second-chance romance.
Curvy girl.
Lowkey suspense.
Danger.
Forbidden vibes.

Overall, this was okay.
Very dramatic, intense. And slow-paced.

3 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Overall, quality-wise, very mixed. It’s a dual-narration with excellent voices and voice actors, however the male parts had poor sound quality—which especially stood out against the female’s stellar sound quality. He sounded as though he was under water? Or … something like that. I’m not really sure what prompts this particular issue. Usually I hear it in amateur-made productions, however, this one seems professionally produced in all other aspects, so it’s baffling. 3 stars.
