This book was too short. It was like reading long summary of a book. I felt sorry for Joseph, but at the same time I didn't really get to know him, so I didn't feel too sad at the end.

Schmidt does it again. Holy cow. Although it's a short read, it's heartbreaking.

Awww, this was such a bittersweet little book. I loved it so much I finished in a day. The writing was amazing - I felt like I was there in each scene. I also loved that at least for me, the plot wasn’t predictable so that was pretty cool

a beautiful, heart-wrenching, and powerful story about family, love, loyalty, camaraderie, and friendship. though set in the heart of winter in maine, this book will warm your heart and rip it to pieces simultaneously. joseph brook and his story will definitely stick with you long after finishing this short, but impactful and beautiful read. would highly recommend!
