Similar to the first one, missing the overall complexity of the Frank Herbert Dune novels but these do a decent job of capturing the feel, the worlds, the characters somewhat and the political machinations constantly going on in the universe.

The characters in the original Dune series were never very strong in my opinion so these books flesh them out a bit better, debatable on if they're true to the original characters but still entertaining.

A worthy prelude to Dune that really begins to set the table and delves deep into the background politics and outright animosity among the great and minor houses of the Imperium. There are plenty of bad guys and good, moral characters and immoral that leads one on to the next edition in the Prelude series, House Corrine. I read many of these when I was much younger but not in the chronological, but the publication order. I am now, slowly, but surely, going through in the chronological order of the series and am deriving even more enjoyment from the ongoing saga.
