This was another purchase, thanks to 'judging a book by its covers and edges!'
Thankfully, once again, it paid off!

I'm always intrigued by anything involving witches, and once I read the blurb, I was desperate to dive in.
Told across three timelines revolving around the main character, Minerva.
The first covers 1998, present day for Minerva, the second is 1908 where we learn about (great) Nana Alba and her early life, the third is 1934 and tells aq2 story involving the university Minerva is currently at. This one involves the author who she is basing her thesis on.
This was written really well, and it was easier to keep up with each storyline than I was expecting. I loved that each chapter pulled me in further, and I had to stop myself from skipping ahead to remain in the same timeline just a little longer! I could picture each scene as it happened and had no problems believing in the witchy goings on.
There were plenty of twists along the way, and the ending of each certainly didn't disappoint!

So incredibly scary I had to grab my cats to keep me company while reading. An atmospheric read perfect for the fall. Moreno-Garcia's connection to this topic was also interesting to read about! Incredibly well done and super different from the typical witch stories in New England that has been done a thousand times. I am already a tried and true fan of Silvia (minus The Beautiful Ones which was an insane miss for me), but this really knocked it out of the park for me, hurdling over Mexican Gothic and Gods of Jade and Shadow as my favorite of hers! My reccomendation is to not read this alone at night, you'll be looking over your shoulder for days!

I loved it so much. The ending was very satisfying. I thoroughly appreciated the multiple storylines and the way they tied together at end was *chef’s kiss*.
