Very sweet story from a Dog's point of view. Sad at times but heartwarming all the same.

This book was so heart wrenching and filled with raw emotion that I, admittedly, cried several times. The thought of what happened to those poor animals, any and all brings tears to my eyes.

one of my favorite childhood books by far. Loved it since I picked it up at the book fair!

I don't remember how much I liked it because it was so long ago...
But I think, just THINK, that I quite enjoyed it.. I do have positive memories of it.
And I think it was quite... emotional.

Unfortunately, I can't comment much but I would mostly recommend this book to younger readers - e.g 12yr olds rather than older readers.

My ten year old daughter and I listened to the audio book. I would have given it three stars, because I found it fine but repetitive and lacking in emotion, but she gave it four, and since she's the target audience, I'm going with her review.

I didn't really expect to like this book much, but I picked up on a whim anyway. It had two basic strikes against it: (1) It's told from the dog's point of view, which can sometimes be really odd to read and (2) it's "juvenile fiction."

Well, I was wrong. This was a fantastic book and I wish I could read more like it! It tells the story of Squirrel and her brother, Bone, who are stray dogs born in a shed behind a house. After their mother leaves them, they depart together for parts unknown. The book is, at turns, sweet and sad, wonderful and heartbreaking. The ending brought tears to my eyes and made me smile. It was just a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!
