A cute adventurous Christmas mystery novella. Short and sweet but worth it.

A quick fun read. Hadn't read any Agatha Raisin's mysteries before. I'll definitely try a full-length one.

Oh, Agatha! Don't you know by now that no good deed goes unpunished? Since she was going to be alone for Christmas, Agatha decides to have Christmas dinner for six "crumblies", her special word for the elderly, who will also be alone. Knowing her limitations in the kitchen, Agatha has the dinner catered, but she was determined to make the Christmas pudding herself. And you can just imagine the result. Before anyone was able to taste the pudding, Agatha angrily dumped it on the head of an 85 year old who was drunk and who was letting his sausage-like fingers trespass on Agatha's body. Who knew that having a Christmas pudding dumped on the pervert's head would kill him? Or did it?

Agatha is feeling melancholy at Christmas and with Mrs Bloxbys help she decides to host a Christmas dinner and invite Winter Parvas "crumblies" who otherwise would be spending Christmas on their own.

Everything goes to plan, mainly because Agatha got caterers in, until the pudding is served and all hell breaks loose. Agatha again bumbles herself into a case, and this time she might not be able to get herself out.

If you havent read this series I seriously recommend you do. Aggie is an endearing character that no matter how hard you try not to, you end up liking. This story however was very short, although very good and a very fast read. Recommend it for anyone who does like Aggie and her friends.

I had to do some research to figure out if I had read this before. It has a 2012 publication date, but I think in the U.S., it only appeared in a couple of reprint paperback editions of early titles in the series, which I wouldn't have read, since I read the early titles when they were first published. There's not much of a story here. In fact, this may be the only Raisin outing in which there's no murder. I would love to read a version where her party guests actually ate the adulterated pudding. I know Aggie is stubborn, and that she can't cook, but she's not stupid-- who would think it was okay to serve a pudding that had been doused with insect killer?
