Such a fun read. Highly recommend if you like reading middle grade/YA to distract you from the horrors of the real world. 10/10 escapist fiction.
Es ist schon etwas länger her, dass mich ein Buch so fesseln konnte. Als treuer Anhänger der Bartimäus-Bücher konnten mich auch Lockwood & Co verzaubern.
Besonders angenehm finde ich es, dass das Buch ohne sinnlose Liebesgeschichte auskommt. Das ist bei Jugendbüchern eher selten, spricht aber sehr für den ersten Band.

It's been a while since I set my eyes on the Lockwood and Co. series, but I finally got the chance to start it, and I'm glad I did. I quite like the concept of the book, ghost hunters! The overall vibe really gave me a nostalgic feeling, like something straight out of the 2010s. The book itself is a bit thick for me, since I usually stick to reads under 300 pages. It was a bit of a struggle to finish, especially because the pacing felt slow at times. Some parts were overly detailed, so much so that I found myself skimming through sections that didn't seem too relevant to the main plot. It made the story feel a bit scattered in places.
That said, a few scenes were genuinely nerve-wracking, though I did wish for more consistent tension throughout. What I really loved, though, was how the ending unfolded. The twist was unexpected. In the middle, I was thinking, "Why are we suddenly talking about a completely different case?" But it turns out everything tied back together in a really clever way.
Overall, I'm still curious about where the rest of the series will go. Hopefully, the next books will feel more fast-paced and immersive than the first one.

3.5 i like bartimaeus' voice better than lucy's but that might change over the course of the books. George annoys me. Like always Stroud's worldbuilding is phenomenal.
