Apparently I'm reading a lot of books that feature fox spirits from various cultures lately . . . I didn't plan this, I swear :)

Also, this book was addictive and a good progression of the first book's plot ;) I feel like some of the characters who didn't get a lot of screen time in the first book became more developed. I do feel that some readers may be put off by the amount of this book that the villain spends narrating, but it didn't bother me personally.

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first. It had such second book syndrome. The first 150 pages were honestly so boring and repetitive. I still do like all the chapters and the relationships, that’s the strongest part. The rag tag team with their different personalities just makes for a funny time. The romantic relationships, I’m also enjoying especially the one introduced in this novel. The ending kind of made me  mad because why did you guys do all that just for that to happen? I’m excited to see what the last one brings.

Why did it take me over a month to finish this book? No idea. Maybe quarantine is getting to me. I zoomed through the first book and then I hit a snag somewhere during this one.

Despite that, I did enjoy this book. Part of my lagging in reading could be contributed to how little I liked reading in Hakaimono’s POV or Suki’s. Yes, I understand they showed vital points of the story but I would’ve rather read Tatsumi’s POV while possessed rather than of the demon who possessed him.

I don’t know.

Then I had this nagging feeling about Yumeko. She was so dumb and naive in the first book and it almost felt like reading in the POV of a child and then suddenly in the second book she’s got romantic feelings with Tatsumi and it felt kind of awkward. Could just be me.

But she was even clueless when Daisuke and Okame were flirting and even the shrine maiden understood that. I know Yumeko is young but shouldn’t she have gotten a little educated somewhere along the journey? Why did Reika let her just walk around clueless, especially when everyone knew she had developed feelings for Tatsumi. And there’s no way Tatsumi is clueless in any way, shape, or form. No way.

I dunno. If she doesn’t become a little more matured and knowledgable in the last book, I’m going to be very disappointed. Especially if we have any kind of kissing or other scenes.

I definitely enjoyed the first book more and I hope the third book will prove to be even better. I’m interested to see how the merged souls or Tatsumi and Hakaimono work out and if it can be undone and what the gang will do if it can’t. That’d be an awkward steamy kiss scene if not.

Probably 3.5 Stars, I didn’t like it as much as SOTF (probably because less Tatsumi) but I still really enjoyed it and i’m excited to read the final book
