The eighth book in the twisted tale series that is supposed to be a Peter Pan retelling. On a positive note, this is the best book Liz Braswell has written in the series. Nevertheless, it was still too wordy and dragged on and on. I did enjoy the ending.

Very much enjoyed this retelling, I wanted to see a bit more of Peter Pan but I'm also glad the story was more focused on Wendy and The Lost Boys and the struggles that accompany them. I was a little unsatisfied with Captain Hook's ending, but I absolutely loved Wendy's ending and her character progression.
Definitely want to check out more books in this series, excited to read more of them!

So I'm struggling to give this book a 2 or 3 stars. I did enjoy it in some parts, but also very slow in others. It was long and the plot lagged in places.

I will say that I liked the partnership and friendship between Wendy and Tinkerbell. I liked that we got to explore Neverland, and how it was a bit more sinister than Wendy ever imagined. I also liked that it felt like the movie just expanded I still really want to go to Neverland and find Peter Pan. I don’t think that is a wish I’ll ever stop making. Ever. I love the magic of it all.

I like page turner books that make it hard to put down the book. This just did not have that same urgency for me and at times I felt like I had to push to continue. One of my biggest complaints is about the author's need to use obscure words that left me heading for the dictionary. This detracted from my enjoying the story. For a book that is supposed to be ages 12 and up, the vocabulary is too difficult. Even a strong young reader would get frustrated.

As for the story, it has been a long time since I last read/watched the story of Peter Pan. This is definitely different as Wendy first goes to Neverland on Captain Hook's ship. She buys passage by giving Hook Peter Pan's shadow. And then spends the rest of the book trying to get it back and stop Hook from destroying Neverland. We do not meet Peter until page 362 of the book so most of it is about Wendy and Tinker Bell. The ending is anticlimactic and left me unsatisfied. There's something else I want to see (or read) for the ending, that's why it aches to part with this book in such an unstisfying ending.

It was nice seeing the relationship forming between Wendy and Tinker Bell. I just wish the book would have been a bit shorter, since many passages could have been left out.

A Peter Pan book with hardly any Peter Pan in it until the end? No thanks. The whole man is stupid and girls rule trope is played out. From what I’ve read so far that’s what this author does to these retellings. Once Upon a Dream was a train wreck and so is this one.

Ok, this book is redeeming this anthology. Wendy the suffragette?! I support it.

I agree with some of the reviews this book did seem mediocre to me. I would possibly give this a 3.5 rounding up.
This read was a tad bit boring, but it was a decent read, I will love any Disney retellings,
I did like how in this book Wendy and and Tinker bell got along. To be honest I do find Peter a bit annoying and rude, I understand he is a child but even most children have manners. I did enjoy this retellings and hopefully I will like the other retellings as well.
