Loved this book!!!!
I liked so many things. The maturation of Isabella. The good friends and bad guys.
I felt something I hadn’t experienced since I said goodbye to my Pa along the docks: safe with a man.
I just loved an accompaniment to The Scarlet Letter!

This is a really good book about the imagined inspiration behind The Scarlet Letter. It’s a great story with a lot of moving parts. It kept me interested, but I do wish that it was a bit longer. So much happened and I wanted to know more, especially in the last 50 pages or so. A great book that I’d highly recommend for anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

I have not read The Scarlet Letter and I suspect I never will but I enjoyed this fiction based on that story. The author has given us an interesting novel based on Hester Prynne, the woman in the Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. Some chapters told the story of the Salem witch trials and I definitely will seek out more books about that sordid chapter of history.
