It’s a great book, I love that it’s more from the gone series and I love the new powers and just the crazy ideas of what the powers could be and just new kinds of powers however I didn’t feel as connected to these characters as I did during the gone series other than the ones that are the OGs. I hope that that’s just because it is the first book and it’ll change but when things happen it feels like it makes less of an impact on me. The powers are insane and so cool though. Just losing the mystery and having it as a straight action book means I like it a bit less as well.

I found this a let down after the Gone series, I preferred the way the powers manifested in the original series.

I also wish it spent more time detailing the fates of the characters we know from before.

Having said that I still enjoyed the book and will probably read the next two but it isn’t as compelling as the first entry of the original series.

Always a joy to be in Michael grants Gone world. A huge fan of the original series and now this sequel series is building more of what exactly made the FAYZ happen.
I know Grant said that he doesn’t always think ahead of what he’s going to write and just writes as he goes, including plot twists. Some may not agree with this writing style, but I love it. It makes the writing feel more natural, in my opinion, and I believe he sets the characters attitude to their appropriate age. Most the time, even in young adult, teens around 13-19 act some much older than they are and their flaws don’t effect the story. With Grants stories the traits seem much more realistic in their thoughts and language.
Defiantly will be continuing on.

god I love the Gone series. So damn underrated— and this series is shaping up to be equally as amazing. Excited for more.

I did not really enjoy this book which sucked because I loved the Gone series. The Gone series were captivating and the right amount of descriptive with characters whom were likable but also questionable. This book was just confusing. Shade was just ?? and everyone else was just so flat. It was also hard to read.
