Such a fun read! I previously had no idea The Canterville Ghost was written by Oscar Wilde. Reading this finally closed the loop for me, 25 years later, about the origin of a movie I loved to rewatch as a kid -- the 1986 version of The Canterville Ghost. I didn't get the satire back then, and that made it extra fun this time around.

The writing is superb, as any other Wilde book, but the ending was very disappointing, which is a pity as I enjoy Oscar Wilde’s writing immensely.

Wilde is just a genius in making human faults his center of topic without you even realizing it unil you are making fun of people with said faults and you realize you would've been just as dumb if it were you.

Wilde’s ‘Lord Arthur Saville’s Crime’ was a wonderful little read. It’s a short story about a man who has his hand read by a chirologist and his course of action in responding to a dark fate, therefore pitching him in a battle with destiny. Wilde therefore explores why one shouldn’t meddle with fate and includes dashes of aristocratic pomp, revolutionary attitudes and in Wilde’s usual fashion incredibly crafted prose. There were no individual lines alike to ones in ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ that blew me away but as a work it was much shorter so wasn’t allowed the time to blossom quite so much, though despite this Wilde’s ability as a wordsmith has not failed to disappoint. It was an engaging story with interesting themes and I can’t pick many faults whatsoever, from what I have read of his works Wilde is yet to disappoint.

This is with disclaimer that I know Oscar Wilde never meant all these stories to be read altogether.

Lord Arthur Savile's Crime was pretty interesting, my favourite short story by Oscar Wilde so far. The Canterville Ghost is ofcourse a delight to read, but the others were pretty boring, not something I enjoyed.
