Baba Yaga's Assistant is a sweet graphic novel about a girl who feels unloved in her family so answers Baba Yaga's ad for an assistant. The main character is clever and independent, and I'm sure in a situation relatable to a lot of kids.

Even though the target audience is probably fairly young, this is compelling enough for older readers as well.

3 stars.

I'm feeling kind of slumpy, and this was a great read to help me get out of it! I love the art style, it was colorful and bright without being too bright and distracting to the story. Although the art style was awesome, I didn't really feel anything for the characters (which kind of makes sense since this is a graphic novel), and the plot seemed a bit rushed. I flew through this graphic novel and read it in like 15 minutes, but I the plot felt underdeveloped, and the characters didn't feel like actual people. However, this was a quick, fun read, and so if you're thinking about getting into graphic novels I do recommend checking this out if it sounds interesting to you!

The art was cute, I liked the character designs. I didn't really vibe with the mc's motivations, so that probably didn't help. It also threw me for a moment that Baba Yaga is a real woman in this world and everybody knows it.
