I skipped ahead to the betrayal and realized that I didn't care at all. the characters were far to boring for me to harbor any kind of longing to read their story, if you're going to write intentionally unlikable characters then at least make them unlikable enough to keep me interested

Enjoyed the detailed and honest description of Nora’s emotions which I very much can empathize with. The second half was perhaps a bit too much rambling, and the betrayal at the end was quite heavily foreshadowed.

The whole time I was listening I was thinking- why am I reading this? Do I care?
Don’t know and No.
I’m out.

Messud is a great writer. I tired of the protagonist's issues, frankly, but it's so beautifully done and treats art with such enthusiastic detail.
