This book was…fine? I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. It was cute, I guess, but the whole trope was a little too on the nose of a Hallmark holiday movie for me maybe.

This was a super cute romcom of childhood lovers turned "enemies". In the end, most of their issues come from misunderstandings. I was rooting for the two of them to end up together from the very first page, and there were a few points where I just wanted to either yell at them to stop being so in their head and second-guessing to hugging them for comfort.

This book glorifies the murders of Palestinians. Seriously disgusting and dehumanizing.

This was super cute and really enjoyed reading a lot Rachel and Jacob.
This did include my least favorite troupe, the miscommunication troupe, but I loved reading and learning about the Jewish religion and traditions.
I also appreciated reading a story about someone with a chronic illness. It really opens your eyes and makes you appreciate your health. Especially at this time of year.
I truly enjoyed this and am excited to read more by Jean Meltzer.

Again, I love this author. The ending is way satisfying. The enemies-to-lovers trope is turned in its end. Friends-to-enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers. What's not to love? And again, I learned so much about Jewish culture. Looking up the rest of Jean Meltzer's book list because her work scratches my itch!

Very nice, Jewish romance novel set during Hanukkah. I enjoyed the Jewishness sprinkled in the story. I had to ask my Jewish husband what some of it meant :-D
And I would still like to know what Rabbi Goldblatt thought of Irving Berlin writing Christmas music.
I didn't like the "let's just misunderstand and overreact and cause drama out of nothing when simple communication would solve everything" trope.
Oh, and to people, who gave this book one star and said "This book glorifies the murders of Palestinians. Seriously disgusting and dehumanizing."
You are lying. This book is about a Jewish event in New York, and doesn't even mention things happening in Israel, Palestinians, or Palestine, and no-one was murdered. Do you go around leaving one star comments on all books written by and about Jewish people?
