The book is soooo descriptive at times that I got bored, hence the amount of time it took for me to read it! I really liked the draft tho, which is why I’m puzzled as to why it was such a pain to read this. Edward tires me more times I can count... somethings were nice, like learning more about the character of bella, sewing how alices visions work and knowing a bit more about the cullens.
At the end of the day I think my timing was wrong. Don’t read twilight and then right after this one. It gets too repetitive...
Also, Edward should find a vampire therapist... the dude needs it. The self deprecation was real. So yeah maybe I’ll reread in a far away future. Who knows

Look - I had to read it for 11 year old me. It was everything she wanted after being on the library’s wait list for months. For adult me, it was very painfully repetitive!

man oh man. this was bad LMAO. i had fun but i will be honest and say i skimmed a LOT of it. i don’t understand what the point was of going out of the way to include all of the exposition from the first book. no one is reading this as a replacement to twilight. and even aside from the repetitive exposition it was needlessly long. like so long. i don’t know why on EARTH she needed to make this so much longer than the original story. to tell… the same story. so much unnecessary dialogue and pages upon pages of yearning. and like. edward’s drive from the airport to the dance studio took TEN PAGES. ten pages that i honestly did not read. i never thought twilight was boring even if it was silly so i don’t know why this felt so dry???

Edward's perspective gives you:
a) more backstory about his past and the Cullen family in general
b) the chance to see Bella as more than a generic MC (as helpless as she continues to be...)
c) more information about the thoughts/feelings of unimportant side characters
d) regret for ever being Team Edward

Without the nostalgia of being a re-read from my childhood, Stephanie meyer’s writing is insufferable
