Quick read and a nearly impossible one to grade. Better than just okay, but so over-the-top disturbing that it’d be hard to call it a 4 or 5 star “good” read. Follows the actions of a psychopathic hillbilly serial killer as he collects his female victims and engages in cross-dressing and necrophilia. Yeah, so there was that.

I don't think this guy is up to any good.

I read this after finishing Blood Meridian, and compared to the latter, Child of God is meh. It's a fast read if you want something to occupy you, but it's just about a guy doing bad stuff until he dies. Huge content warning for necrophilia, dear God.

Well I've always wanted to read a Cormac McCarthy novel, and I chose a short one based on the fact that the films based on his novels are pretty disturbing. I didn't want to spend too much time in the dark world of his imagination...beautiful writing, gorgeous descriptions, and, of course, deeply cringe-worthy.
