It was cute and funny in parts. But the way the characters constantly gaslit the FMC toward the end was really off-putting IMO. It kinda ruined the cuteness of the story for me.

More of a 4.5-4.75/5 stars.

I ate this up. I loved it. I cannot believe I haven’t picked up another book by Christina Lauren after I fell in love with Autoboyography. But I’m SO happy that this was the one that I decided to pick up.

It’s got my favorite hate to love trope in it. It’s got a Hawaiian vacation because of a food poisoning wedding incident with a guy you don’t like. And of course it has Olive falling in love with Ethan. What can you expect from it? Amazingness!

I love Olive’s huge Mexican family. I love how they’re all so into each other’s businesses and how they’re ready to feed an army or how whatever is going on they have your back.

So I loved the Maui part of it all. All of their shenanigans that they got into while they were there were so much fun. I do wish it wasn’t like we got the first 5 days and then all of a sudden their leaving ready to go home so fast part. It felt a little weird for that.

My biggest two gripes I will say with this are that Ethan doesn’t believe Olive. He even mentions knowing about things that were happening and once Olive talks to Ami and he still doesn’t believe her kinda pissed me off. Also the fat rep. They call Olive “curvy” but like all they really mention is that she’s got big boobs which doesn’t qualify someone as curvy at all.

But I loved this really. I need to read more Christina Lauren books like immediately after this.

This would’ve made a fun beach read. Loved this one overall but it was hard to like the main character at times.

I loved this book; the romance is so good. The characters are wonderful, but holy cow. If you can't handle second hand embarrassment, like me, do not read the last third of this book. It was torturous. . . I was stressin' and cringing.

Fun, simple story. Cute romcom with all the basics.
