It’s very different from the movie on the same way that “Perks of Being a Wallflower” is different from the movie. It’s in more of a character-focused, almost diary entry format with significantly less plot than the movie.

Moderate: Panic attacks/disorders, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , Self harm, Suicide, Violence, Suicidal thoughts, and Suicide attempt
Minor: Sexual content, Homophobia, Drug use, Eating disorder, Racism, Addiction, Forced institutionalization, Death, Drug abuse, and Police brutality

this was exactly what i needed right now. i really loved this book! it’s such a solid piece of self-exploration with honest anecdotes to keep you turning pages. i felt understood in some sections, and yet felt completely out of my depth and as if i was learning something new and important in others. the writing is easy to read and introspective throughout. i highly recommend this if you are in the mood for something short and beautifully told. it’s not perfect, but it was a great reading experience.
