This felt like a classic mid-00’s “middle aged woman finds a new lease on life” movie, and it was fun! There were several parts of the book that were so over the top that it pulled me out of the story (just how horrible Izzy and Louis were, Verena and Frank at the end, Nina’s whole deal and the dinner with Evie and her family in particular). Sylvia felt like an unreliable narrator in that she heightened everyone’s emotional reactions to her to make her appear to be a bigger victim than she was (in some respects. A big fuck you to Louis over everything he did in the book).
Entertaining and a quick read!
