This was the first book I read by Stephen King and it’s his first published novel. Unbeknownst to me, he doesn’t only write horror books. Carrie is not a scary book, and it kept me interested to find out what ultimately happened when she discovered what she really was.

This was my first of Stephen King's books that I decided to take a crack at and I absolutely LOVED it. It's an extremely immersive story told in an unconventional fashion--King uses documents like newspaper clippings, interviews, and snippets from other books to tell the tragic tale of Carrie White and the bloodbath of prom night (which he mentions in the first paragraph). It's a fascinating account of a teenage girl's deadly last few days and it's true: the book is MUCH better than any of the film adaptations. Of all of King's novels I've read so far, this is one of my favorites.
