not to excuse murder and all but im glad carrie did what she did and got her revenge, she was pushed to her breaking point and had enough, and honestly i would do the same thing. shame on all of them for continuing to bully a teenage girl who was very clearly being abused at home by her insane religious mother, shame.

As usual, King has a good idea which gets slaughtered by the disgusting way he writes of women, girls, and sex. The more of his works I read, the more disappointed I am. 

The jumping around from POV to POV to newspapers and writings of other characters telling the story was done in such a bizarre way. Like his previous books, this also included (despite being only 242 pages) descriptions of and interviews with people that really did not matter. The entire part three could've been left in the drawer as a draft and nothing more.

So all in all, not a great read.

Have religious trauma? What a wonderful way to relive it! Carrie is iconic of Stephen King for many reasons. As someone with some religious trauma it is both extremely satisfying to read and painful. In that way it retains it’s title as a truly timeless piece of horror.

 after getting into a pretty bad reading slump I asked a friend for a short recommendation that would satisfy my needs for a kind of "fucked up" story and some bits of unnerving moments.

this book successfully filled this brief and i was greatly surprised by actually how much i enjoyed reading this book, even though its a rough thing to say i enjoyed it. i especially liked the writing style, having multiple perspectives and articles sewn within the story. What was more surprising was reading a third person kind of styled novel and feeling so much. I haven't read a lot of third person in a while so this was a great rekindling to my liking of the writing style.

while obviously aware of the ending, i was surprised how it was written and how much character i had gotten throughout the novel and how much this bad sort of feeling stuck throughout.
