This was going to be a 4 star as tbh the it was just like reading the movie but then the last 60 pages totally sold it for me. Prom night is a LOT more gruesome in the book and I loved it.

When a young girl, bullied and tormented by her mother and the kids at school, discovers she has telekinesis power, she finds her confidence. But a cruel trick strips it away in an instance and she's left with seething anger and an insanity that will make them all pay.

First off, this book is gorgeous. I got the 50th Edition and was barely opening the pages for concern of cracking the binding. Stunning. Secondly, I haven't read this before but I've seen the movies. There's some similarities, but it's so much more.

The villains are more hostile, repulsive, and scary what they want to do as teenagers. Carrie is far more vicious,  destructive, and her mother's religious fever is a terrifying sight to behold. The depiction of girls being cold-hearted and cut-throat is pretty dead on. A pack of teenage girls is like running into a pack of hyenas.

What's left at the end of the book is a smoldering rubble of sadness and despair, a husk of a town with its potential snuffed out, mimicking the teen girl they allowed to be broken.

Glad I finally read this, it was about time, and glad it was such a beautiful copy.
