Enjoyable introduction to Minecraft. It helped fill in the gaps when my son said, "Daddy, I'm going to teach you to play Minecraft!"

Pretty basic introduction to Minecraft, so this handbook is good for beginners or even folks who have never played (though I would argue the best introduction to Minecraft is picking up a controller and actually, you know, playing). Hardcore fans like myself will appreciate anything Minecraft-related, even if it is rudimentary, so this book is no exception. I particularly liked the quotes included from Jeb & Notch. Also, there are a couple fun articles by CaptainSparklez, a popular Minecraft YouTuber.
One downside is that some of the information is outdated. Minecraft is regularly updated, so this is bound to happen with anything about the game put in print. For example, the book says that sheep don't provide meat - and for a long time that was true on the console versions - but now regardless of the version you play (PC or console) you do get mutton when you kill sheep.
Finally, I thought it was weird that there was almost nothing about the Nether. I can understand the End not being included, but I have always thought of the Nether as an "essential" part of the Minecraft experience.
A couple drawbacks aside, this was a fast and fun read for even a seasoned Minecraft gamer like myself.

I should have read this BEFORE I started playing. Would have saved me a lot of frustration. It’s been fun letting my kids teach me, though, and playing with them.

Now that's out of the way: this book is a good resource for beginning players, although experienced players may learn a thing or two they didn't know.

This is a bit outdated now as well a little more entertainment-focused rather than a strict guide. I still had a great time reading this book and learned a thing or two as well :)
