Lovely art-and spot on illustrated version of The Picture of Dorian Gray . The author does a great job of adapting it, while keeping the story intact. A great introduction to Oscar Wilde for a reluctant reader (or comic book fan).

The one thing that struck me about this graphic novel was the art style. Especially as it progressed throughout the story, almost as if it was mirroring the painting Basil did of Dorian Gray. As a person who's never read Oscar Wilde before, I feel this is a great introduction to his writing with a fun twist. And as much as I loved the artwork etc., I tended to feel slightly disconnected from the characters from time to time. Someday I hope to reread this novel in it's original form so as to fully immerse myself. Still a very enjoyable read!!

The art in this was fantastic, and i'm a huge fan of this story in general.

Will recommend this if you've already read the novel and just want to have some visualization. I think this captured the atmosphere of the story well, especially Dorian's descent as the pages got darker through the end.

This story adapted well to graphic novel form. I think Wilde's experience writing dialogue really made it easy to recreate the conversations and it never felt like they left out anything important.

In the book, there is a long and boring chapter that serves as a segue from Dorian's youth to his adult life. I thought for sure that in a graphic novel they could easily make this part interesting...but no, they totally failed. I fell asleep and had to finish it the next day. But other than that it was really good.
