Oh wow. This is a pivotal story which makes good use of the skills which the Carpathians have gathered.

With a de la Cruz brother in the book, always fun!

I'm a little on the fence on how to review this book. Overall . . . I loved the path Lara & Nicolas had to take together. I also enjoyed having much loved characters from previous books have more than a passing glance appearance & actually be involved in the story (which is why it got 5 stars).

However, I hated the ending. I've gotten used to her cliff-hangers over the past few books, but this is one doozy of a cliff. The book just abruptly ended. I turned to the next page and found APPENDIX 1 . . . I absolutely could not believe that was the end of the book.

I REALLY hope Dark Slayer comes out in early 2009 vs. late 2009. I hate having to wait to see how this new plot line unfolds!

Hmm… I picked up another book that was more interesting around the 70% mark and found I needed to finish this book for the sake of finishing it. All of Christine’s books are intriguing to be fair but the repetition does get tiring. That said, this book reveals a lot of the underlying plot that connects the books in this series so I can’t see how you can skip it.

Okay so FINALLY we have an answer about why women can’t stay pregnant. This book was dark AF, lots of torture and manipulation and physical and emotional abuse.

I didn't really enjoy this book. The constant ice cave scenes were so boring; I really had to force myself not to skip a couple of pages. And Lara, ugh! I know she was traumatized as a child, but can she not try and seek some help? I just kept getting really annoyed with her and her behavior. Many times throughout the book she nearly killed people because she was freaking out. Nicolas didn't help the situation by babying her everytime she would spaz out and nearly kill people. I totally agreed with Gregori for going off on Lara. Overall I didnot like this book. I did however like how they brought alot of the characters from the previous books into the story, but it was not enough to save it. I liked Nicolas, he seemed to be a good man and lifemate, but Lara was not the right match for him. I could not work up any sympathy, empathy, or like for her.
