Not giving a rating bc I listened as an audiobook and fall asleep during it most nights lol.

I just love Stephen Fry’s narrating and what I did absorb of it I enjoyed. Am glad I didn’t read it as an actual book though because it’s not a topic that really interests me enough for me to want to go to the effort of actually reading it. But for something to help me fall asleep it was good.

This book was written in a lighthearted and friendly tone that made me chuckle from time to time and lean into the stories, some of which I had been familiar with, some of which I didn’t know at all. I must admit however that it took me almost two months to finish this because, although there was the attempt to tie this into an overall narrative, I found it hard to turn back to short stories that felt unrelated to each other. I will probably go back to this book whenever I want to refresh my memory of a certain mythological figure, but I wouldn’t recommend or read this again.

This was quite delightful. An easy read, but very entertaining and educational. My family still has a big book of the world's myths and fairytales, and it's amazing how much I remembered while reading Mythos — but also how much seemed new and fresh. Stephen Fry writes with humour, enthusiasm, and wit; it's lovely when you're taken along by someone who is passionate about explaining things, but also respects letting you piece things together yourself.

A re-listen of a book I've already read before. Once again I've realised that:

● Zeus changes into anything to f*ck anything and anyone.
● Hera is a jealous b*tch
● Apollo needs to calm down a notch, even compared to all these other brutal Gods 😂
● Hermes is absolutely hilarious, especially as the well-articulated and too smart for his own goods baby he was.
● The story of Hades and Persephone stays an all-time favourite of mine
● Mortals needs to learn from their past and their mistakes... but also love how they confidently keep announcing to the Gods that they are better than them.
● Stephen Fry is a master at story-telling.

Have a new-found love for the story of Eros and Psyche. Cannot wait to read more about their story.

A superb retelling of the Greek Myths, I read this via whispersync. It really comes to life narrated by Stephen and very enjoyable reading it oneself too.

The myths are retold very humourously and accessable. I would recommend it as a great entry point in to the World of the Greek Myths.

I am looking forward to the forthcoming second part 'Heroes'.
