Really good, but I think the subject matter was just too ambitious for one book.

So I never had a Greek mythology phase, I've only done a bunch of required reading for high school and college. I knew a good amount of the stories in this, but there were still several that were new to me. Some of which I really enjoyed.

Fry did have a fun way of retelling these stories, but wow I felt like I was never going to finish this book. I probably would have given it a higher rating if it were shorter, because finishing it almost felt like a chore. If I hadn't already been halfway through I might have stopped altogether. I'm glad I had the audiobook, because I've never listened to something at such a high speed, ending up at 1.90, just to get through it.

I know I'm an outlier in not loving this, and I'm not a Greek mythology buff. His retelling is probably super fresh and fun for someone who knows the stories well. I also realize I may have liked it better if I just picked up small sections at a time, from the physical book, and slowly made my way through it when I was in the mood.

Stephen Fry takes you on a divine journey across Greek mythology, explaining detail after detail of the lives, loves, and lies of each of the gods and goddesses. I probably would never have known as much about myths as I do now as I can retell the origins of something as simple as honey! Spoken in the audiobook, Fry’s voice is easy to listen to and animated, although I do recommend listening on an increased speed!

A very fun and informative retelling of the Greek myths as told by Stephan Fry himself. The author describes how he took the myths and gave there his own spin while staying true to the stories themselves.
