Took me a while, but hearing that the author is working on the fourth Nora Simeon book got me motivated to sit down and read the third one, which came out last year. The Demons of Chiyoda sends mystical private eye Nora and her boyfriend/assistant Eyre to Japan, where the job of investigating strange demon-related phenomenon in the world of sorceror-bankers crosses paths with Japanese history. Ninjas, ancient shrines, yakuza, various traditional spirits, and plenty more going on in the land of the rising sun. Like the prior books in this series, this is another fine urban fantasy tale, with a story that moves quickly, plentiful action while exploring mysteries, and a bit of romance on the side. There are ties to the earlier books, but this one seems to stand alone just fine, with enough explanation that new readers won't be confused. Though I don't know why you wouldn't want to go back and read the whole series, they're all great fun.
