was this book a little problematic and had literally no diversity? yes :(. did it provide great commentary on the nature of performing and the contrast between personal and social life? also yes 😏 did this book get me out of my slump? YES!!!!!! 🫶🫶

Woolf is a great writer, but this doesn't have the interesting characters of Mrs Dalloway to work.

On page 43 of 151

This is sucking the enjoyment of reading out of me and I literally can't.
I want to enjoy her writing so much but it's so mind numbing and boring that I end up falling asleep with the book on my face.

I will try again in the future I swear I will.

I just need to return it and it's pissing me off so much .

I just can't GET Virginia Woolf. Everything I've read by her seems like another read through would make it so much clearer, but I never want to make the second attempt badly enough. There are some really interesting paragraphs in Between the Acts, as pointed out by my lecturer, and I'm sure that there are more but I can't care enough to dig them out.

DNF. I couldn’t keep track of who was speaking or whose thoughts we were getting. I will hopefully pick it up and try again in the future.
